GIS Data Download Disclaimers
Please read the following two disclaimers before downloading data. These pertain to data use and currency of the data:
FGDL Data Disclaimer:
The data layers available for download in FGDL may not be the most current version of the data. More recent versions of the data may be available from the data source. We suggest that you check the FGDL metadata and check with the data source to see if more recent versions of the data are available.

FGDL regularly updates as many of its data layers as we have time for, but with over 350 data layers, it is difficult to update every single data layer as the updated data becomes available. If you find an updated version of a data layer in FGDL, please contact us and we will try to get the layer into the FGDL. Thank you!

GIS Data Download Options
There are two ways that data can be downloaded:

1. SEARCH/ BROWSE/ DOWNLOAD DATA USING THE FGDL METADATA EXPLORER
The FGDL Metadata Explorer is a web-based application that searches and browses through the contents of an ArcIMS Metadata Service. The Metadata Service for this site contains FGDC metadata for all data layers in the FGDL.

When you search the data using the metadata explorer, you are searching the contents of the metadata. Data can be then downloaded from the search results. In addition, users can simply browse through the metadata and read about FGDL data layers.

ENTER THE FGDL METADATA EXPLORER

Note: This site uses frames, so your browser must support frames in order to view the Metadata Explorer.

2. DOWNLOAD DATA FROM THE FGDL FTP Site
If you are familar with FGDL data and its naming conventions, then you can go directly to our FTP site to download the data. Below is a brief listing of how the data is organized on our FTP site.

*Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, you must use Passive FTP mode to access our ftp servers and download data. Go to Tools/ Internet Options/ Advanced Tab, Under Browsing check 'Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)'.
