Find out what data is available
To see what data is available in the FGDL, search and browse the data using the FGDL Metadata Explorer

Please note that the FGDL Metadata Explorer site uses frames, so your browser must support frames.

Download FGDL data
FGDL Data can be downloaded free of charge using the FGDL Metadata Explorer or by going directly to our FTP site. Please see the Data Download page for more information.

Order FGDL Data on CD-ROM or DVD
Some GIS users prefer to order the FGDL data on an external hard drive, rather than downloading individual datasets. Here are the instructions on how to order data:

Be sure to have an authorized signature on the first page of the order form. Orders cannot be filled without this signature.

Use FGDL Data
Using FGDL data requires GIS software. For just viewing the data, several free software options are available including ArcExplorer. For analysis of geographic data, there are numerous software packages that are available. A list of free, recommended GIS software packages is on the FGDL Software page. A complete (may take a long time to download) list of GIS software is on our GIS Software page.

To learn more about using FGDL data, you can take a 2 day course specifically dealing with FGDL data and how to use it. Look at the Continuing Education Course page for more information.
