GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This data set contains points locations of wildlife habitat observations. The UF GeoPlan Center compiled this dataset from various sources. This dataset is intented for use in the FDOT's Efficient Transportation Decision Making (ETDM) Process.

Shape Feature geometry.

S_NAME Species Scientific Name.

COM_NAME Species Common Name.

OBS_DATE Date the species was observed - in format YYYY/MM/DD. Ex: 2005-05-10.

SOURCE The organization or company that the observer is affiliated with.

PROJ_NUM FDOT / DRI / Other Contract Number under which this data was collected.

PROJ_NAME The Project Name under which this data was collected

OBSERVER Person who observed the species.

OBS_NUM Number of species observed (if more than one species was observed.)

NEST_NUM Number of nests (if any observed).

NEST_OCC Whether nests are occupied (YES or NO).

ACTIVITY Activity of observed species (nesting, foraging, mating, etc) .

SITE_NAME Name of site that was surveyed or where species was observed.

SITE_DESC General description of the area and habitat where the species was observed. Name of park or managed area, if the species was observed in managed ares.

COMMENTS Any additional information about the species.

XVALUE The X value spatial location of the species observed.

YVALUE The Y value spatial location of the species observed.

DESCRIPT Based on COMMENTS.

FGDLAQDATE The date FGDL acquired the data from the Source.

AUTOID GeoPlan Center internal feature number.

USER NOTES:
GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within the original data.

A note concerning data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale 
datasetsare not suitable for some project, analysis, or
modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best
available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that 
are at the county level.

1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base 
mapping such as property parcel boundaries.

1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that 
are at the multi-county or regional level.

1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that 
are at the regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should 
be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with 
your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:

GeoPlan Received the data via email in the 
NAD_1983_HARN_Albers Projection.
- Reprojected to the FGDL Albers HPGN Projection.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

- Renamed the existing fields within each data set to fit the 
  new Species Observation Shapefile format.
- Calculated for the S_NAME field based on the 
  Scientific Name derived from the existing COM_NAME.
- Added a DESCRIPT Field based on COMMENTS.
