Attribute_Accuracy_Explanation:
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), Transportation Statistics Office (TranStat) maintains traffic and roadway data in an Oracle database called Traffic and Roadway Information Systems (TRIS). The TranStat database contains transportation information relating to traffic count statistics and roadway features and characteristics for the purpose of state transportation planning and development. The TRIS database uses the Oracle relational database management system (RDBMS), the Structured Query Language (SQL), and Pro*C to create, manipulate, maintain, and access data. The data is stored in files called tables, where the tables are organized into rows and columns. Each row in a table is a record, and each column in a table represents a property of the object the table represents. Relational databases can then link tables together based on common properties. TRIS is composed of two main databases: Roadway Information System (RIS) and Traffic Information System (TIS). The Roadway Information System (RIS) is a collection of tables containing information necessary to uniquely identify a roadway segment and describe its features and characteristics. Traffic Information System (TIS) is a collection of tables containing information relating to traffic surveying, monitoring, and statistics. The data from the TIS and RIS databases are relatable to the arcs of the DOTRCI spatial dataset through a Dynamic Segmentation data model. Questions? Quantitative_Attribute_Accuracy_Assessment:
Attribute_Accuracy_Explanation:
A note concerning data scale: Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data. 1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level. 1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries. 1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level. 1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger. Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our web pages at: http://www.geoplan.ufl.edu/education.html These data are based on interpretation of available information and should not be construed as legally binding.

Process_Description:
The FDOT RCI database is updated monthly. This version of the database was downloaded from the FDOT ftp site (ftp://ftp.dot.state.fl.us) in October, 2001. The download contains the FDOT basemap route coverage and all associated relational tables. These tables can be used in conjunction with the basemap using dynamic segmentation. Using ArcView software, version 3.2a, dynamic segmentation was performed using the relational table named "BRIDGES" to create a shapefile of bridge locations on the FDOT roads.
