USER NOTES:
ESRI feature type: Simple, Geometry: Polyline, Topology
Data set has been visually inspected. All data produced strives
to meet National Mapping Accuracy Standards (NMAS).
GeoPlan relied on the integrity of the attribute information within
the original data.

To provide members of the Tallahassee/Leon County GIS Interlocal
group with base data to use in their maps, projects and business
processes.

This data is provided 'as is' and its horizontal positional accuracy

MODIFYING, CONTRIBUTING OR DISTRIBUTING THE MATERIALS.

A note about data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets
are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modeling purposes.
Please be sure you are using the best available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
county level.
1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such
as property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
multi-county or regional level.
1:125000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the
regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be
considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data
before using it for projects or analysis. Every effort has been
made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional
information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact
section of this documentation. For more information regarding
scale and accuracy, see our webpage at:

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
Existing public right of way sidewalks, curb ramps, and impediments
and obstructions in Leon County were inventoried by Planning
Department staff. Sidewalk centerlines from street segment curb to
curb, curb ramps, and impediments and obstructions were then
recorded by Planning Department staff with a Trimble ProXR GPS
and a Trimble TDC1 datalogger. Sidewalks widths were measured
with a handheld tape measure, and any necessary offsets were
recorded utilizing a handheld compass and a Leica Disto Classic
laser range finder. Various attribute data were collected. All feature
data were uploaded to GPS Pathfinder Office, differentially
corrected, converted to GIS shape files, and corrected using 2001
digital orthographic aerial photos.
Supplemental_Information:
1. This is not an engineering-grade survey of sidewalks and/or
related sidewalk facilities. Slopes, cross slopes, landings, and other
engineering and construction variables consistent with the Americans
with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines were not measured or
recorded. However, sidewalk widths and other condition attributes
were. Impediments are considered to be any section of the sidewalk,
based on the judgment of trained field personnel, that is in a
comparably worse condition than surrounding sidewalk sections,
which may cause difficulty for wheelchair or pedestrian passage.
Impediments include light, moderate, or severe cracking,
faulting, and/or surface wear. Obstructions are features which
reduce the minimum clear width for single wheelchair passage of
32 inches (815 mm) at a point and 36 inches (915 mm) continuously,
or they prevent wheelchair access to a sidewalk segment.
2. Sidewalk segments and other features on private roads were not
mapped.
3. Since sidewalk construction and repairs, including upgrades and
additions to address ADAAG, are ongoing activities of local
government and the development of property, these layers cannot
be considered absolutely comprehensive or complete. Please
contact the appropriate local government public works department
for the latest activities.
