Item Description
FID Internal feature number.

Shape Feature geometry.

NAME The name of the airport.

FCC The Feature Classification Code (FCC)

LOC_ID The three or four character unique identifier of the airport

USE The identification of the use of the airport.
PU = Public Use

PR = Private Use


OWNER The owner name of the airport/runway.

ELEVATION The elevation in feet above sea level of the airport/runway

CONGESTION The congestion level of the airport.
S = Severe

M = Moderate

U = Uncongested

O = Entry Missing


SERVICE The service level of the airport
PR = Primary commercial service airport

CM = Commercial service other than primary airpoprt.

CR = Commercial service airport that also serves as a reliever airport.

GA = General aviation airport

RL = General aviation airport that serves as a reliever airport or heliport.

GP = General aviation airport that meets the criteria for a primary airport (PR), but has been declared ineligible to be a primary airport.

RP = General aviation airport that meets the criteria for primary airport (PR), serves as a reliever airpoprt, but has been declared ineligible to be a primary airport.

GC = General aviation airport that meets the criteria for a commercial service other than a primary airport (CM), but has been declared ineligible to be a commercial airport.


LG_CERT_AC The 1992 large certified air carrier enplanements for the airport.

COMMUTER The 1992 commuter enplanements for the airport.

AIR_TAXI The 1992 air taxi enplanments for the airport.

FOREIGN The 1992 foreign enplanements for the airport

HUB_SIZE The hub size of the aiport based on percent of national enplanements.
L = Large

M = Medium

S = Small

N = Non-hub

G = General Aviation


TOWER_TYPE The tower type code of the airport
0 = No tower

1 = Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) tower

2 = New Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) tower

3 = RAPCON (Radar Approach Control)/RATTC

4 = Decommissioned

5 = TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach Control)

6 = Common IFR (Instrument Flight Rules)

7 = Tower candidate

9 = Military


FCC_DESCRI The Feature Classification Code (FCC)

DESCRIPT Field added by FGDL based on the OWNER field.

A note concerning data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale 
datasetsare not suitable for some project, analysis, or
modeling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best
available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that 
are at the county level.

1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base 
mapping such as property parcel boundaries.

1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that 
are at the multi-county or regional level.

1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that 
are at the regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should 
be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with 
your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
Data originally released by Tele Atlas in 2005 on CDROM.  When 
received, data was in the following projection: 1983 
North American Datum (NAD83), Units: Decimal 
Degrees. The original data was limited to
territories within the State of Florida.
Process Date: 2005

GeoPlan, during the QA/QC process included the following aspects: (1) The data was reprojected to FGDL Albers HPGN map projection. (2) Added DESCRIPT item based on OWNER field. Process Date: 2005
