USER NOTES:
An accuracy report is not available for this layer. The primary source of parcel boundaries is from the county parcel maps, which are relatively accurate. The attribution for this layer is not thorough - many of the columns are not fully populated at this time, and others may have contain some errors. The column named 'accuracy' is not operational. The fields that are programmatically significant and well populated are the project name, internal tract ID, estate type, owner, revision date and process (status). Users should be aware that this is a dynamic, working data layer rather than a refined publication version.

This data set is one of many data sets that shows boundaries and attributes of property parcels related to District projects. It is a compilation of coverages of individual properties or groups of properties. Other related layers are the District Right of Ways, CERP Project boundaries, Save Our Rivers Project Boundaries, Public Lands, and digital county parcel maps. These maps are used by many different business functions at SFWMD and other agencies. The official and most current version of lands for acquisition is maintained by the Land Acquisition Division, named 'sfwownall' (housed at the SFWMD). The most complete coverage is named 'sfwownall'. It has over 24,000 Tracts related to water resource projects, including many types of ownership status, and many different owners, both public and private. Attribution attached to the parcels in the GIS data base shows the project name, acreage, type of estate (mostly fee or proposed fee acquisition), current owner, a tract ID and various management details for each parcel.

A detailed guide to this data base is not available at this time, and is not essential for general usage and understanding. Users should note that there is a substantial body of information about the projects themselves on the Land Acquisition web site as well as others. For more information about the Land Acquisition Program and related projects, users should visit the applicable intraweb and internet web sites. A central site for Land Acquisition is at www.sfwmd.gov/org/clm/lsd/lsd.html. Along with general information about the program, this site contains a detailed description of each project and maps at different scales. Project information is also available at the site www.evergladesplan.org. A complete list of CERP projects is found at ww.evergladesplan.org/pm/projects/index.shtml, which contains links to management plans, calendars, related projects, a glossary of terms, and a tool to select projects by interactive map query. For additional information users may also contact: The referenced data steward for this spatial layer, and associated development staff. The metadata specialist and others on staff at GIS Services Division, SFWMD. The contacts and resources listed on the District's web site at www.sfwmd.com. The USGS compendium of information about the South Florida environment at www.sofia.usgs.gov/metadata/index.html. Users can view additional metadata details for this and hundreds of other enterprise GIS layers in tabular format by going to the GIS data catalog at the district intraweb site. Comprehensive parcel maps are available in digital format for most of the District, from county and other sources. The county parcel maps have extensive attribution used for appraisal and other purposes. For more information about obtaining and using the digital parcel maps contact the Land Acquisition data stewards or land use specialists in GIS Services at the District

A note concerning data scale:

Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale
datasetsare not suitable for some project, analysis, or
modelling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best
available data.

1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the county level.

1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base
mapping such as property parcel boundaries.

1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the multi-county or regional level.

1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that
are at the regional or state level or larger.

Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should
be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with
your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every
effort has been made to supply the user with data
documentation. For additional information, see the
References sectionand the Data Source Contact section of
this documentation. For more information regarding scale
and accuracy, see our web pages at:

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:

Parcels included in this data base are those for
which the District has obtained an interest
(fee, easment, flow easement, etc) or have been
proposed for acquisition. For more information about
the selection process see the land acquisition web
site at www.sfwmd.gov/org/clm/lsd/lsd.html.

The primary source of parcel boundary lines is the
digital parcel boundary data derived from county
programs. These are transferred or copied from
district copies of the county layers. Parcel information
maintained in an Oracle data base has been joined to
the GIS spatial layers, and additional fields added, to
produce the coverage attribute tables.

In 2004, GeoPlan downloaded this data in shapefile format from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) website: http://www.sfwmd.gov/site/. SFWMD_LANDS is an update of the FGDL Version 2004 data layer SFWMDL.The dataset was projected to FGDL Albers HPGN. When received, the data was in StatePlane Florida East (FIPS 0901) NAD_1983 Feet. -Reprojected to FGDL Albers HPGN -Dropped old internal coverage items: CDRELAQ_, CDRELACG_ SFWMD_OWN_, and SFWOWN_ID -Converted area and perimeter from feet to meters -Added DESCRIPT field based on PROJECT_NA to attribute table -Renamed file from CDRELACQ to SFWMD_LANDS -Fixed area anomaly for ACQ_ID 16100-004 -Fixed 447 slivers Process Date: 20040824
