All Bicycle types are as SUBTYPE 'B'
MAINTAIN Group responsible for maintaining the trails.
TRL_KILOS Total length of the trail in kilometers.
TRL_MILES Total length of the trail in miles.
NAME2 AND NAME3 INFORMATION
Where more than one trail took the same route, the
NAME2 and NAME3 categories were used. The
information here is the same as for NAME (ie:
STATUS, TYPE, SUBTYPE, SOURCE, TRL_KILOS,
TRL_MILES). Hiking and multi-use trails are given
precedence over bicycle and other road-based trails.
If a hiking trail and a bicycle trail took the same
route, the hiking trail would be given the NAME
and the bicycle trail would be given the NAME2.
When deciding between two trails of the same type,
a national trail would be given precedence over a
regional or local trail.

USER NOTES:
Scale is an important factor in data usage. Certain scale datasets are not suitable for some project, analysis, or modelling purposes. Please be sure you are using the best available data.
1:24000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the county level.
1:24000 data should NOT be used for high accuracy base mapping such as property parcel boundaries.
1:100000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the multi-county or regional level.
1:250000 scale datasets are recommended for projects that are at the regional or state level or larger.
Vector datasets with no defined scale or accuracy should be considered suspect. Make sure you are familiar with your data before using it for projects or analyses. Every effort has been made to supply the user with data documentation. For additional information, see the References section and the Data Source Contact section of this documentation. For more information regarding scale and accuracy, see our web pages at:

DATA LINEAGE SUMMARY:
Originally this coverage was created and maintained by Kent Wimmer and the 1000 Friends of Florida. Many of the Items FNAME, FTYPE and TRAILNUM (this item has been dropped) are legacy attributes and are no longer maintained.
The GeoPlan Center has been contracted to maintain this coverage as part of the Florida Greenways Project. Most of the trails that are maintained by the GeoPlan Center are Recreational (Hiking, Off-Road Biking, Equestrian, Canoe, Kayak). Theodore Petritsch at Florida Department of Transportation is now maintaining Bike Lane information. You can contact him at (850) 487-1200.
The automation of this data layer was performed utilizing the US Census Tiger Roads data (FGDL layer TGRR90) as a basemap. Those trails that follow roads will map better with Tiger roads rather than DLG or another Roads database. SOURCE items later than 54 were digitized with 3m DOQQs as a basemap.
TRL03eA and TRL03pA are updated versions of TRL02e and TRL02p, which are updated versions of TRL99e and TRL99p. The following trail types were either removed from or consolidated in TRL02eA and TRL02pA: A (Historic Roads/Heritage Driving Tours); AC (Access Connector)changed to X (Connecting Trails); BP (Bicycle Path - Bicycle Trail separated from automobile lanes); BR (Bicycle Route or Bicycle Lane - long distance bicycle route attached to automobile lanes); BT (Off-Road Bicycle Trails) changed to B (Off-Road Bicycle Trails); C (Canoe/Kayak Trails) changed to P (Paddling); S (Scenic Roads); X (Connecting Trails between FTA and/or FNST hiking trails) was changed to incorporate all connector trails. TRL99e and TRL99p were formally part of TRL98 which included trails with STATUS item EXISTING, PROPOSED and OPPORTUNITY. OPPORTUNITY trails have been removed from this dataset and EXISTING and PROPOSED trails were seperated through a series of RESELECT commands in ARCEDIT. The former OPPORTUNITY trails dataset still exists and is can be obtained from the GEOPLAN center.
The current file name, trl03ea, indicates that this file is the first release of 2003. Subsequent files will be named trl03pB, trl03pC, etc.
