Below is a brief description of the available CD-ROM series:

FGDL Version 2006 COUNTY

CONTENTS:
These DVDs contain primarily vector data by county in Florida. The data included on these DVDs are ones that make sense to tile by county; generally these are layers that are large in file size. Most of these layers are not available at the statewide extent because of their large file size.

Please note: The following imagery that was previously released with the FGDL County Series is no longer being distributed:

  • FDOT Aerial Photography
  • Digital Orthophoto Quarter Quads (DOQQ)
  • USGS 1:24,000 DRGs (Digital Raster Graphics)

2000 CENSUS DATA

CONTENTS:
This CD contains census data, in shapefile format, taken from the U.S. Census Bureau at various time periods. The CD contains historic spatial and attribute data dating back to 1970. The spatial data for 1970 and 1980 is in the form of centroid points and is down to the block group level. This data was taken from a special CD produced by the Census Bureau. The spatial data for 1990 is represented with both centroids and block group boundaries. The spatial data for 2000 is much more comprehensive and offers data at the block level, the smallest unit of census data. There are also many other census related datasets such as block groups, tracts, places, counties, etc.

In addition, the 2000 data has a large amount of additional attribute data that can be joined with the block and block group shapefiles. This attribute information comes from two releases of census data, summary 1 release (for blocks) and summary 3 release (for block groups).
