| Description: |
The FGDL Extension for ArcMap 9.x
is a toolbar designed to help users integrate FGDL Version 3 or later data
into ArcMap 9.x documents. This extension works with FGDL Version 3,
Version 2003, Version 2004, and later. This extension does not work with
FGDL Version 1, 2, or 3.
The extension's user-friendly interface allows users to add FGDL data easily
to their ArcMap document and provides easy access to the metadata. This
extension does not provide Geoprocessing tools.

| Setup:

Double-click on the downloaded file (FGDLVIEWER.EXE). You will be prompted
for a location to unzip the FGDLVIEWER files. The Readme.txt should open
automatically with the rest of the Installation instructions. If it does
not open automatically, then navigate to the location you specified to
unzip the files and open the Readme.txt

word document or pdf document
with complete installation instructions.

The FGDL ArcView 3.x
Extension is designed to help users integrate FGDL 2003 data
into ArcView 3.x projects. It includes all the features of the
version 3.0
extension. Since the FGDL 2003 metadata are located
in the same folder as the data files the extension loads the
metadata from this location rather than from an 'fgdldocs'
folder as in the previous version. |

Software Minimum double-speed CD-ROM drive 256-color VGA

| Setup:
|
Double-click on the
downloaded file. By default the setup program prompts user to
install the files in C:\ESRI\AV_GIS30\ARCVIEW\EXT32. Change
the drive letter/path accordingly if ArcView 3.x is installed
in a different path/drive on your computer. Otherwise, click
Unzip to install the file. Click Close to finish. Note: There
is no need to uninstall the previous version. The new install
will overwrite any existing files. |

| Description: |
FGDL is an ArcView
extension designed to help users integrate FGDL version 3.0
data into ArcView projects. The user-friendly interface allows
users to add FGDL data easily to the view, link to the
metadata, change legends and create quick maps. This version
of the extension has been expanded with two major features:
FGDL Tools and the HTML Publisher. FGDL Tools provides
geoprocessing tools including Buffer, Clip, Erase, Dissolve,
Merge, Identity, Intersect and Union. HTML Publisher allows
users to create quick HTML pages of the content of their
ArcView projects for publishing them on the Internet. Both
FGDL Tools and the HTML Publisher work with FGDL data as well
as user data. |

Recommended 3rd Party GIS Software These software packages support FGDL data formats and
are free. |
| ESRI's ArcExplorer
(free) |
Two versions are
available: ArcExplorer 1.1 and ArcExplorer 3, Java edition.
ArcExplorer 1.1 can be used on Windows 95/98/NT. ArcExplorer 3
can be used on Windows NT/98/2000 and Solaris. ArcExplorer
1.2, when it is released, will support MrSID images.

GeoViewer and MrSID Viewer (free) |
Two versions are
available: the MrSID GeoViewer and the MrSID Viewer. The MrSID
GeoViewer can be used on Windows 95/98/NT. The MrSID Viewer is
available for Windows 95/NT, AIX 4.2.1, IRIX 6.2, Linux 2.0.32
and Solaris 2.5.1. |
